The Dramatic Improv Festival returns to Chicago, August 20-23 for four days celebrating the art of grounded, human, emotionally authentic improvisation. Hosted by Theatre Momentum, the festival brings together improvisors, actors, and instructors from around the world for an exciting lineup of performances, workshops, and community events. Whether you’re an experienced performer, a theatre artist looking to expand your craft, or simply a fan of compelling live performance, the Dramatic Improv Festival offers a unique opportunity to experience a different side of improv.

Festival performances showcase character-driven, story-focused improvisation that emphasizes authentic relationships, emotional honesty, and meaningful storytelling. During the day, participants can train with acclaimed instructors in workshops covering dramatic improvisation, acting, storytelling, and performance techniques. Since its founding in 2019, the Dramatic Improv Festival has welcomed performers and teachers from around the world, creating one of the world’s premier gatherings for dramatic improvisation. Performances take place at The Edge Theater in Chicago.
